Throttle
The Sting uses a unique gear twist structure design, the core parts of the throttle can be well protected, even if the throttle tube suffers some impact damage, the throttle is still workable. And with the auto mobile level encoder, the throttle can enable the rider to control the acceleration with ease. It's a specialized product and fantastic for an electric off-road bike.

The Sting offers four levels of engine braking which are controlled from the dash display module mounted next to the left-hand
switchgear. This controls the level of engine braking when rolling-off the throttle. Increasing engine braking recovers more
energy into the battery under deceleration, which extends run time. Engine braking on the LBX is via a programming cable so cannot
be adjusted whilst riding.
No Belt Drive
The Sting's primary drive uses a small ratio box rather than the drive belt found on the Sur-Ron. The belt drive is a service item
which wears out over time and is vulnerable to damage from stones, grit and jumps. The Sting's ratio ratio box is designed to last
for the life of the bike and only needs an oil change every 600 miles. A drive belt change will typically cost around £100 whereas
an oil change on the Sting should cost no more than £25.
Why choose the Talaria Sting over the Sur Ron?Stock and out of the box, both bikes are very good for riding streets and light trails.
The Sur Ron would be better for shorter riders and street riders since it is smaller and more lightweight.
The larger, more powerful Talaria seems to be more suited for heavier and taller riders who do more trail riding but the initially jumpy acceleration will take some getting use to.
A big consideration that many neglect in the decision making is maintenance and the Surron jackshaft and belt drive are notorious for needing repairs and replacing.
The Talaria eliminates that issue by using a sealed gearbox. Yes, the oil will need to be regularly changed from the gearbox, but that's pretty simple compared to replacing bad bearings or a busted belt.
